The Assistant Human Resources Business Partner plays a key part of the HR operating model, providing support for HR Business Partners in delivering an excellent HR partnering and support service across the Council.
The post holder will provide central support for employment lifecycle policies and processes for managers, employees, and colleagues and will act as a focal point for advice and guidance on such areas of people management, which could include absence management, grievances, conduct, and capability issues, with guidance and support from the appropriate HR Business Partners should the complexity require it.
The role sits within a wider business partnering team, and the post holder will therefore require resilience and self-sufficiency. Strong team relationships are required within the HRBP team, to enable the sharing of best practice, mutual support, and collaboration on HR initiatives as required. Assistant HR Business Partners will support HR Business Partners in areas of policy development, operational and corporate initiatives across the council as required. They will act as a positive advocate for the wider HR Team within their dedicated area, and ensure two-way communication is promoted which allows continuous improvement in HR service and practice, and manager capabilities.
This post reports to an HR Business Partner and will receive general direction and supervision, although the post holder will be expected to work on their own initiative when providing advice and support to colleagues outside of HR.
Please note this role is for an initial 6-month contract but could be extended.
