Job Description
We have an exciting opportunity for a Transport Operator to join our friendly team in Washington on a full time permanent basis.
As the Transport Operator you will be responsible for effectively managing vehicle utilization and ensuring drivers are given clear and precise instructions. Ensuring that all service levels are met cost effectively and within the constraints of driver’s hours and H&S regulations.
Salary: £30,000 per annum.
Working Hours: 4 on 4 off, 6pm-6am.
Key Duties of a Transport Operator:
1. Ensuring that all elements of the job are effectively communicated to drivers and sub-contractors.
2. To plan the effective utilisation of drivers, vehicles, sub-contractors and agencies ensuring that all Company sites are fully considered when doing so.
3. Ensure that all drivers are working within a safe environment and follow driver hours regulations.
4. Liaising with the Transport Supervisor to optimise fleet/driver utilisation, identifying and resolving problems affecting delivery on time.
5. To assist in the control of equipment, ensuring that customer requirements are met and recorded.
6. Working with Compliance to ensure trucks are legal and information is downloaded in a timely manner.
7. Supporting Drivers with callouts and breakdowns.
8. Ensuring customers are informed of late or delayed deliveries using the relevant contact method (automated electronic, email and telephone).
9. Building and Matching of ASN’S to loads ensuring compliance.
10. Completing Accident, Incident and Near Miss Paperwork.
11. Tracking of Drivers using ISOTRAK / Microlise systems.
Qualifications
12. Experience of working within a distribution / transport environment.
13. Experience of managing own workload within a pressurised environment.
14. Sound geographical knowledge.
15. Basic understanding of driver’s hours regulations/Tachograph law.
16. Excellent organisational skills.
17. Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
18. Initiative and the ability to work unsupervised.
