Vulnerable children in the UK need your help
Wherever you work in the Action for Children family, you'll be helping to change the lives of the most vulnerable children in the UK.
Last year, we helped more than 687,000 children and families across the UK. From direct work in communities to national campaigning, we are focused on making sure every child has a safe and happy childhood, and the foundations they need to thrive.
Why Action for Children?
Working here is more than a job. Everyone in the Action for Children family is passionate about protecting and supporting children. It's the sense of purpose that drives us every single day. Because we know that, when we work together, we can make a huge difference to bring lasting improvements to vulnerable children's lives.
A bit about the role
Action for Children's Early Intervention Family Support Service works across Omagh and Fermanagh supporting children and young people aged 0-17 and their families.
We have a mixed staff team of social workers and family support practitioners. Staff provide services from our Omagh and Enniskillen bases. Services are delivered on an outreach basis to communities and individual family homes, including evenings and weekends providing support when most needed.
The Service is funded by the Western Health and Social Care Trust and is required to support children, young people and their families at an early intervention level.
We also work closely with a number of partner agencies including the Western Trust Gateway teams as well as schools, paediatrics and health visitors.
Based in one of our offices in Omagh or Enniskillen you will work as part of a Team and on your own initiative to support children, young people and their families to deal with any difficulties and work together at an early stage to explore solutions and prevent long term problems.
How you'll help to create brighter futures
1. You will work as part of a Team to provide, flexible, creative, outcomes focused supports and guidance to children, young people and their families.
2. You will undertake individual needs-assessments, develop individually tailored, outcomes focused support plans and evaluate service impact for individuals.
3. You will provide interventions including individual direct support and evidence based group work programmes.
4. You will support the Service Co-ordinator in promoting the service and its activities to a wide range of statutory, voluntary and community based agencies and organisations.
Let's talk about you
1. Ideally you will have: NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social care, early years, youth work or relevant subject
2. Experience of delivering support to children and families in their own home
3. Excellent communication skills and the ability to build a rapport with a wide range of people
