Qualifications:
Boeing Defence UK is offering the opportunity to join their expansive Safety Management System (SMS) team in providing Products and Services Safety. The successful candidate will be joining a large multidisciplinary SMS team of circa 20 experienced members during an exciting time of growth within BDUK.
The Safety Support Official will be responsible to the CH-47 Programme Safety Official to support the implementation and sustainment of the BDUK SMS within the UK MoD CH-47 Programme. The individual will be responsible for developing and sustaining a Positive Safety Culture, providing feedback and engagement with the workforce and ensuring safety reporting and investigations are handled in a timely and effective manner.
Key responsibilities:
1. Occurrence Management of relevant CH-47 safety reports.
2. Perform Safety Investigations in response to the triaging of safety reports.
3. Facilitation of Hazard Working Group to create and mature BowTies.
4. Develop and sustain a strong Positive Safety Culture within the programme.
5. Perform safety promotion and feedback.
6. Delivery of SMS and HF training within the programme as required to support compliance with regulation.
7. Creation and maintenance of the SMS documentation
8. Maintain SMS interfaces with the MoD and Suppliers.
9. Track and monitor safety actions and recommendations.
10. Safety communication to management, leadership teams and the workforce.
11. Support to 1st, 2nd and 3rd Party audits.
12. Maintenance of the Safety Records.
Travel within the UK is expected and some overseas travel may be required.
Essential competencies:
13. Formal engineering or flying qualification including experience in aircraft operations or aircraft maintenance.
14. Experience in conducting safety investigations in aviation.
15. Formal Safety Management Systems training and experience.
16. Previous military or civil experience in the application of safety policy and SMS requirements in an aviation context.
17. Experience in growing and sustaining a Positive Safety Culture.
18. Experience in handling safety reports using military or civil reporting tools i.e. ASIMS, Centrik, Q Pulse.
19. Develop and use meaningful metrics to evaluate safety status and provide performance visibility.
20. Experience in working across multiple functions to create relationships and understanding in order to progress difficult issues.
21. Ability to identify help needed and coordinate with the appropriate leaders and team members.
22. The candidate should possess strong communication skills, Safety training skills and demonstrate the ability to use common IT and project management concepts/tools.
23. The role will have significant UK MoD customer, supplier and wider Boeing interfaces and, therefore, a person who is diplomatic whilst being strong minded is essential.
24. The ability to obtain UK Security Clearance
Desirable competencies:
25. Qualified and experienced Human Factors trainer/ facilitator.
26. Experience in the application of a Just Culture model.
27. Experience using the MoD’s ASIMS for in-service occurrence monitoring and trending or a civil equivalent system.
28. Training in Safety Risk Management and experience in using and facilitating the creation of BowTies.
