CDDFT wish to recruit a trust grade doctor to our Tier 2rota. This is an excellent opportunity to further develop in Obstetrics andGynaecology Surgical skills.
The successful applicant will join a friendly andcollaborative team of consultants, associate specialist and doctors in training.
The post is clinically based and include both Obstetrics andGynaecology. Full participation in the on call rota at tier 2 level isrequired, 1:8. Oncall duties are based on labour and gyane wards and reviewingemergency admissions along with SHO support.
Daytime duties will include labour ward,elective operating, ward cover and support and clinical expertise in maternityday assessment units, along with antenatal clinics. Specialist antenatalclinics also run and there will be opportunities to attend these for learningand development. Gynaecology services include scanning in the early pregnancyand acute gynaecology unit, elective surgery, general gynaecology outpatientsclinic and specialist clinics including menopause, and ward cover. We have anextensive gynae-oncology service and the successful applicant will be expectedto work with this team, including Robotic surgery assistance.
Main duties of the job
Seniorduties in both obstetrics and gynecology, covering antenatal, postnatal andgynaecology wards, antenatal and gynaecology outpatient clinics, the DayAssessment and Triage Units and the Early Pregnancy Unit. Ultrasound trainingis available and encouraged. Participation in theatre, rotation through thegynecology oncology team and active participation in audit are expected. Thereis the opportunity to participate in the specialist interest clinics in thedepartment including Obstetric Medicine, Fetal Medicine, Rapid Access Clinicand Outpatient Hysteroscopy Clinics. You will also have an opportunity toattend some of the teaching sessions which take place on a weekly basis and theDepartmental monthly meetings

A Registrar (Specialist Trainee 3-7) and SHOs (Specialisttrainee 1/2, GP and F2 trainees) support a 1:8 rota for each level. Aconsultant is resident for the majority of the time, after 10pm they can be offsite if work allows and be called in to support when needed.
Regular morning ward rounds of in-patients in bothobstetrics and gynecology. Assessment of patients in Day Assessment / Triage inObstetrics, The Early Pregnancy and Acute Gynecology Unit is required duringthe day and Labour Ward cover is also integral. Elective Caesarean Sectionlists occur daily during the week when junior trainees are supervised operatingon cases suitable for their level of training by consultants and seniortrainees. Trainees are expected to participate in regular appropriate handoversto their colleagues and follow up patients with abnormal results. There areopportunities for supervised scanning in both Obstetrics and Gynecology and tolearn and improve on surgical skills.
There will be opportunity to be involved in undergraduateteaching and support if interested
