Your new role As a member of the commercial team and reporting to the Tendering Manager, the Multi-Utility Estimator will be responsible for directly handling tenders or overseeing the entire estimating and tendering process. They will assess the technical requirements of each opportunity to ensure commercially viable results. Effectively manage a portfolio of Multi-Utility Projects, each at various stages of the pre-award process. Coordinate and manage a portfolio of allocated multi-utility tenders across our three geographical regions. Produce technically competent, financially viable and competitive multi-utility tender packages, including the tender proposal drawing, financial estimate and all tender documentation – inclusive of detailed client breakdown as required or bespoke supporting documentation as set out in the client tender brief. Ensure all designs are technically competent and in accordance with group and industry standards for gas, water and electricity (up to 132kV). Liaise with the Tendering Manager in accordance with current policy for approval to issue tender packages to the sales team and/or clients. Maintaining your own competence in accordance with statutory authority policies and updates, legislative changes, and customer requirements. Specify all materials, switchgear and plant and subsequently liaise with material suppliers and manufacturers to obtain comprehensive quotations. Specify the necessary materials and resources required to complete the design, construction and installation of each new project. What you'll need to succeed Over 3 years experience of estimating and designing a portfolio of projects in the multi-utility industry. Experience of producing outline designs and financial estimates for multi-utility new connections projects working up to 132kV. Confidently communicating with clients. The ability to channel client requirements into detailed scopes of work and prepare outline multi-utility design proposals. Detailed knowledge of industry network design standards. Ability to obtain and demonstrate value for money from suppliers and subcontractors. Working knowledge of multi-utility construction programmes and lead in periods. Able to confidently articulate and explain complex and technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences relative to the multi-utility industry.
