Job Title – SHEQ Advisor (South)
Location – Remote, with travel needed to various South locations across the country 3/4 days a week.

Responsible for: Contributing to ensuring the SHEQ and Energy management systems of Hydro businesses in the UK are continuously developed so as to deliver excellence and be compliant with relevant laws, whilst promoting a positive SHEQ and Energy culture.

Must have:
• Full driving license.
• 5 plus years’ SHEQ experience desirably within the water, engineering, fabrication industry, preferably clean/wastewater, water utilities or a similar. Understanding of the risks associated within these industries.
• NEBOSH General/Construction Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety.
• NEBOSH Environmental Management Certificate, or IEMA Environmental or equivalent.
• SHE (safety, health, environment, Quality and Energy laws desirable
• Exposure/knowledge, understanding and experience of at least one of the ISO standards and auditing (ISO 45001, 9001, 14001 and 50001)
• Experience with conducting inspections.
• Desirable Knowledge and understanding within this area of work - energy reduction, sustainable and net zero carbon.
- Desirably experienced with carbon analysis, scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions, decarbonisation roadmaps, energy strategies and initiatives.
• Strong interpersonal and communications skills, who is a team player and can collaboratively support others, whilst forming good working relationships across all levels of the business and with external partners. Experienced with stakeholder engagement and customer relations.
• Excellent incident investigation experience.
• Experience with the applications of the CDM Regulations and design risk management.
• Experience of delivering inductions, behavioural safety programmes, in house training initiatives.
• Proficiency in Microsoft office, ability to prepare Excel spreadsheets, reports in Word and presentations in PowerPoint.
Must be willing to:
• Work away from home with some overnight stays, travelling throughout South locations throughout the UK weekly. Work activity will be predominantly out on site at various locations.

Key Duties:
1. To perform duties in accordance with all applicable SHEQ and Energy legislation and standards, ensuring compliance.
2. Work collaboratively with the SHEQ and Energy Manager and the wider management teams to manage the company’s ISO 45001, 9001, 14001 & 50001 management systems. Facilitate external auditors with site visits, auditing, and the gathering of information, when required.
3. Support and mentor management and their teams with their SHEQ and energy compliance.
4. Drive and actively promote a positive and proactive safety culture across the organisation, whilst engaging, advising, supporting, and mentoring the workforce, management, customers, and our supply chain.
5. Establish and promote best practice in SHEQ and Energy matters.
6. Keep accurate records, input data for statistical analysis and reporting.
7. Advise, support, and nurture our Safety Representatives and Green Champions.
8. Monitor the implementation of mitigation and control measures identified on site and within our premises.
9. Lead and manage the NCR register and the Asset/Facilities register.
10. Support and mentor others to compile suitable and sufficient RAMS, CDM plans etc.
11. Support management to implement and maintain safe systems of work, providing.
specialist advice and practical support. Advise and support project teams with managing their SHEQ and Energy responsibilities and initiatives.
12. Deliver and manage the SHEQ and Energy induction, other training programs including customers inductions.
13. Work collaboratively with the administration teams ensuring our premises are first aid and fire safety compliant.
14. Develop, manage, and circulate a monthly SHEQ and Energy information pack to include matters on but not limited to, safety alerts, lessons to be learnt, best practices, incidents, TBT, safety notices, updates etc.
15. Conduct weekly/daily/monthly SHEQ and Energy audits and inspections, ensuring adherence to established procedures, legislation and identifying areas for improvement.
16. Create and organise SHEQ and Energy awareness events, workshops, training, campaigns.
17. Organise purposeful SHEQ forums, workshops, meetings and when required, attend scheduled meetings.
18. Support SHEQ and Energy Manager by way of routinely writing, reviewing, analysing, and reporting SHEQ and Energy metrics, documentation, RAMS, monitoring and reporting progress of corrective actions, preparing reports for presentation and with any other matters. Provide cover for the SHEQ and Energy Manager, during their absences.
19. Investigate, report on and record near misses, incidents and be part of the incident investigation team. Ensure the business’s reporting software is completed and extract data as required.
20. Keep up to date with new legislation and maintain a working knowledge of relevant SHEQ and Energy legislation and any developments that may affect the industry.
21. Identify SHEQ and Energy consents / permits or exemptions that are required and ensure they are obtained.
22. Manage and maintain databases.
23. Other duties which the company may require the individual to undertake.
