The role
As a Cost Engineer you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll be part of the full life cycle from concept design to the project end. Playing a pivotal role, you’ll utilise your cost management expertise to control forecasts and create reports whilst ensuring all cost is accounted for.
Day-to-day, you’ll be the driving force behind requirement management, ensuring budgets are meticulously handled and that costs are controlled with precision, all whilst optimising benefits management and opportunities.
1. Develop/implement and maintain the Project Baseline Budgets including Control Account Plans/Responsibility Assignment Matrix and WBS Dictionary (SOW).
2. Responsible for the monitor, control and validation of project’s accruals and commitments and the control of resource and financial forecast data.
3. Management and control of cost risk budget and drawdown and input into the risk management process.
4. Management and control of financial change management on the project and assurance of alignment with the business/contractual requirements.
5. Provision of internal and external financial performance & cost reports including earned value and variation analysis.
This role is full time, 37 hours per week and hybrid working arrangements with three days in the office/onsite and two days working from home.

Essential experience of the Cost Engineer
6. Extensive recent and relevant experience in a similar environment / business sector
7. Extensive experience applying budgeting & cost control in a complex environment
8. Awareness of various contracting methodologies (e.g. FIDIC/NEC3-4/JCT etc…) including resolution of claims and disputes
9. Advanced knowledge of cost management techniques
10. Advanced knowledge of Earned Value Management
Qualifications for the Cost Engineer
11. HNC or bachelor’s level qualification/degree (or equivalent) in cost engineering, project management, quantity surveying or a related field
