We are currently seeking a Health & Safety Advisor within our GB Cement division, reporting to the GB Cement business Health & Safety Manager.
This role is based at Hope Cement Works in Derbyshire with periodic travel required to cement depots across GB; some overnight stays may be necessary.

Key Responsibilities
1. Provide pertinent professional advice to others across the Hope Site and our Depots and Terminals within a timely manner in order to facilitate informed decision making
2. Facilitate incident investigations, including identification of immediate and root causes and the generation of suitable actions
3. Assist with the development and implementation of health & safety programs including training and competency frameworks
4. Assist with establishing and maintaining a suitable framework to ensure legal compliance with regards to health & safety matters
5. Seek out relevant best practice outside the business and sector to then bring back and deliver suitable implementation plans
6. Undertake regular audits and inspections to determine compliance with H&S legislative requirements.
7. Organise, facilitate and deliver training as required and manage training records.
8. Oversee the induction programme for visitors and contractor partners when required.
9. Wider interaction with other businesses within the Breedon Group
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
Qualifications:
10. NEBOSH National Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety (or equivalent)
11. IOSH membership
12. NEBOSH National Diploma - advantageous
Experience:
13. Extensive relevant health & safety advisory experience
14. Excellent track record for managing leading and lagging health & safety metrics in order to improve health & safety performance.
15. Demonstrable level of competency in auditing.
Skills and knowledge:
16. Thorough knowledge of relevant H&S legislation
17. Competent risk assessor
18. Ability to mentor/coach fellow auditors and auditees
19. Current knowledge of behaviour-based safety would be desirable
20. Understanding of safety culture development
21. Excellent oral and written communication skills
22. Sound understanding of business management systems including relevant Standards e.g. ISO 45001
23. Awareness of generally available data & information in relation to such matters as industrial health trends
24. Excellent engagement skills
25. Good knowledge of core IT systems
