We’re looking for qualified or unqualified Childcare Practitioners to join our Teams in Cummings Park and Tillydrone Nurseries in Aberdeen City.
These are two custom built settings that offer a flexible childcare model which allows parents to book early learning and childcare by the hour. Thanks to partnership with Aberdeen City Council the nurseries both offer fully funded places for eligible 2s and all 3-5 year olds.
Our flexible model actively supports parents back to education or employment so that they can increase their household income and reduce the cost of childcare.
The Childcare Practitioner is responsible to the allocated Manager at Tillydrone and Cummings Park Nurseries, or a nominated line manager within the service.
Specific Responsibilities include:
1. Assist in supporting, planning and developing learning activities for children from birth to 16 years.
2. Assist in creating a welcoming and suitable environment for children and their parents/carers which supports early learning and development.
3. Be prepared to undertake domestic duties, for example the preparation of snacks with the children, cleaning of equipment etc.
4. Report any accidents or incidents to the management team.
5. Respect the safeguarding of children and follow each venue’s Policies and Procedures.
6. Ensure the high quality of the environment to meet the needs of each individual child.
7. Uphold the service's high standard of delivery.
8. Assist in keeping the children’s folios/journals up to date, including observations and personal care plans.
9. Have a good knowledge of child development from birth to 16 years.
10. Further your qualifications as ongoing Continual Professional Development.
11. Undertake training and engage completely with all aspects of Azilo/preferred training provider.

Personal Specifications:
1. A good standard of education and some experience working within a childcare setting.
2. Knowledge of the relevant legal documentation relevant to the role.
3. Member of PVG scheme for children, SSSC Registered as a practitioner.
4. Effective communicator, verbal and written, to a wide range of people including children, parents, team, regulatory bodies, senior officials and members of the local community, through conversation, reports, and written information.
5. Experience in working in a childcare setting.

1. This appointment is permanent.
2. Confirmation of appointment is subject to satisfactory completion of a 3-month probationary period and receipt of PVG Scheme membership/update information.
3. Salary: £12.00 – £12.30 per hour.
4. Hours of work: as and when required.
5. Holidays: 28 paid days pro rata including Public Holidays.
6. Training and Support and Supervision: You will receive induction training; thereafter, you will receive group support and supervision as required. Regular online team meetings are held, and all members have access to internal and external training.
