First Military Recruitment is proudly working in partnership with a fantastic business who are looking to recruit a Project Engineer with a Rail and Signalling background on a permanent basis due to growth. The successful candidate can also be based anywhere in the UK but will be required to travel to Hamilton (Scotland) on a weekly basis.
As a Project Engineer you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll work as an integral part of the project team.
Day to day, you’ll act as Project Engineer and Construction Contractors Responsible Engineer and undertake the management of and co-ordination of the technical and engineering activities for the Signalling discipline. Interfacing with Signalling Design CRE’s where required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. To confirm that all signalling construction complies with all applicable standards, legislation, contract requirements and specifications.
2. Assess the competence and availability of persons employed by the project on behalf of Signalling (excl design) to carry out their engineering and technical responsibilities, e.g. site managers, site engineers, construction managers.
3. Attendance at IDC’s of other disciplines to confirm that their construction interfaces correctly with Signalling Construction activities.
4. Liaise with team members, clients and sub contractors in order to resolve any technical issues.
5. Work closely with Project Manager to ensure all Signalling cost targets are met.
6. Provide engineering support to the preparation of target costs.
7. Ensure successful and safe delivery of project remit.
8. Monitor progress against the project program and taking necessary action when required.
9. Preparation of Work Package Plans, Task Briefings and Risk Assessments.
10. Undertake site surveys.

14. Demonstrable competence in Signalling Activities
15. Demonstrable, relevant experience in Signalling project work
16. Full driving Licence
17. The successful candidate must be able to achieve BPSS security clearance for this role.
MB508: Rail Project Engineer – Signalling
Location: Location flexible, weekly commuting to Hamilton (Scotland) required
Salary: £60,000 + £5,000 car allowance
