Joining Waterman Aspen as a Principal Bridge Engineer will see you as a key member of the North West team and you can expect: A varied client base where you can apply and develop your skills Buy-in from clients to assist in your technical progression Further exposure to your chosen industry - increasing your awareness, knowledge and sharpening your skills The flexibility to broaden your horizons with each new secondment, without changing your employer Career development and training to reach your professional or academic qualification goals supported by our own network of mentors and managers Paid subscription to a professional body of your choice Regular social events and volunteering opportunities Experience required… Essential: UK Experience within a public, private or third sector UK based client Design and specification of civil structures (bridges, retaining walls, foundations, repair and refurbishment works, etc) An understanding of service utilities, drainage and external works design and modelling; Experience in the planning, design and construction of civil infrastructure projects from conception to technical approval; Experience in working in collaborative teams with clients, contractors, external design team members, local authorities, statutory bodies and other third parties; Use of technical design tools such as STAAD, MIDAS, LUSAS, Superstress, TEDDS or equivalents; Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to prepare reports on technical matters; Experience of working within project teams and supervising team members, including mentoring junior staff; Leading small projects or acting as technical discipline lead for larger projects; Ability to work to deadlines, within budget and to programme. Experienced in inspection, assessment, and maintenance of Highway or Rail Structures. Working knowledge and application of Eurocodes, British Standards and the DMRB codes. Preparing construction documents such as Pre-Construction Information pack, Approval in Principals, Assessment reports, Design statements, specifications using the MCHW, cost estimates and risk assessments Awareness of responsibilities under the CDM Regulations. HND, HNC, BEng, MEng or equivalent in a relevant discipline Full UK driving licence Desirable: Drafting feasibility or detailed drawings using AutoCAD. Worked on CAT2 and above bridge design or assessment. Experience in undertaking Grillage or Finite Element Analysis (FEA) modelling on analysis software.
