We are currently searching for a prospective Income Officer to join a team based in Southwark, on a full time permanent basis. The role is hybrid with 2 days per week in office and 3 days working from home. The post holder will manage rent accounts and other housing related debts, and will work with customers to reduce arrears in an appropriate manner, while delivering advice and excellent customer service.
Requirements
1. Previous experience within a similar role, within Income Collection / Arrears Management, preferably within a Housing environment
2. Knowledge of IT processes, including Word and Excel
3. Knowledge of welfare benefits and welfare benefit reform
4. Excellent customer service
5. Experience presenting cases in Court is desirable
6. Experience working in arrears reduction and monitoring
7. Full UK Driving License and access to vehicle
8. Approachable and friendly nature
Role Expectations
9. Manage rent accounts and other housing related debts on a regular basis
10. Negotiate repayment agreements with tenants and take corrective action where such agreements are not maintained
11. Refer residents to welfare benefit and debt support services to ensure that residents are able to maximise their income by ensuring take up of any entitlement to benefits
12. Make regular and early contact with all residents in arrears through home visits, telephone calls, text messages, e-mails and office interviews
13. Prepare and submit cases to the County Court for Possession Hearings and attend court hearings and carry out evictions due to rent arrears.
14. Maximize income collection while minimising the risk of repossession through making use of direct housing payments, charitable applications, food bank referrals and any other means of financial support available.
