We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Engineering Team Leader to join our client, who are a leading specialist in their industry and have customers all around the world. The primary duties of the role include skilled execution of planned & corrective mechanical maintenance activities, ensuring reliable condition and robust performance of numerous and varied items of plant and equipment across the site. Fault finding and root cause failure identification, a proactive approach to defect correction and reporting with a sound ability for swift breakdown resolution in emergency process situations. Co-ordination with existing maintenance, operations and process departments as well as adopting safe working techniques and good overall engineering practice.
You will have many responsibilities, some will include:
1. Implementation of scheduled planned maintenance by realising work orders generated by the computerised maintenance management system (CMMS).
2. Reacting to failure/breakdown of equipment and carrying out corrective/remedial measures as necessary or directed.
3. Possess & demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of industrial mechanical equipment, especially pumps, gearboxes/drive trains, bearings/shafts, conveyors, valves and screens/filters etc.
4. Perform strip down, repair, overhaul & test of various mechanical plant.
5. Install & repair various types of industrial pipework & fittings.
6. Be able to solve problems by properly investigating symptoms and tracing back to identify root cause.
7. Suggestion of solutions for continuous improvement of plant safety, reliability and overall efficiency.
8. Identification & reporting of abnormal equipment behaviour or critical process situations.
Our client is looking for the following:
1. Mechanical engineering apprenticeship at trade level essential and experience in a similar role.
2. Good working knowledge of pneumatic & hydraulic systems.
3. Capable of fabrication & welding to a good standard using either electric arc, MIG & TIG methods beneficial.
4. Ability to read & understand mechanical and process schematics/specifications - including P&ID.
5. Good understanding of electrical & control systems beneficial.
6. Good understanding of automated/PLC controlled equipment beneficial.
7. Experience & knowledge of the Water/Waste water Industry is preferred.
8. Current CSCS card or similar preferred.
9. Current PASMA and MEWP licence beneficial.
10. Current forklift license beneficial.
11. Current certificate for competency in confined spaces & escape BA beneficial.
12. Strong understanding and appreciation of the need for safe systems of work, including risk assessment & method statements, isolation procedures and permit to work systems.
