An opportunity has arisen within MK Community Mental Health Hub Therapies Pathway for a Senior Assistant Psychologist to join this busy and well-established pathway at a time of exciting change and development. The position will suit an individual who is self-motivated, an excellent communicator and data competent, with a passion to support services for adults with complex mental health presentations.
Main duties of the job
You will be a fully integrated member of the multidisciplinary team and work alongside our qualified and experienced Psychologists and other members of the multi-disciplinary team to assist with a variety of service improvement and psychoeducational groups.
Applicants will be expected to hold a BPS approved degree in Psychology (upper second or first class) and have experience of working within a mental health community setting as a paid Assistant Psychologist in a mental health setting. It would be essential to have experience of working with people with complex mental health presentations and working in therapeutic groups. You will need to be highly motivated, a quick learner and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment.

The post offers very relevant experience for future Clinical and Counselling Psychology training. The department also has good links with the Oxford Doctoral Course and provides placements for trainees in all core disciplines.
MK Community Mental Health Hub Therapies Pathway delivers a pathway model for people with diagnoses of Complex Trauma, Personality Disorder, Complex Mood and Anxiety Disorders. The team delivers a range of evidence-based interventions as recommended by NICE Guidance.

Job responsibilities
To support and enhance the professional psychological care of service users within Milton Keynes Community Mental Health Hub Therapies Pathway. The primary focus will be to work in conjunction with Multi-disciplinary Team (MDT) members to support service users and qualified health professionals in the delivery of evidenced based psychological interventions. This work will be completed under the supervision of a qualified professional psychologist, working independently according to a plan agreed with a qualified psychologist and within the overall framework of the teams policies and procedures.
The post holder will also assist in clinically related administration, conduct of audits, collection of outcome measures and statistics, development of audit and/or research projects, and project work.

1. Good honours degree in psychology (2:1 or above)
2. Eligibility for graduate membership of the BPS

4. Previous experience working therapeutically with people experiencing mental health problems
5. Previous experience of working as a paid Assistant Psychologist in a community setting
