Education and experience requirements
Essential criteria
1. Either; A) First degree in Psychology, medicine, social work, occupational therapy, nursing of 2:1 standard or above, or an equivalent relevant core profession with extensive experience with CYP e.g. teaching
2. At least 2 Years mental health experience with children
3. Knowledge and experience of ASD and/or LD
4. Able to complete academic components of the course
5. Able to integrate training into practice
Desirable criteria
6. Experience working in a children's mental health setting
7. Experience of working in a children's educational setting
Skills/Experience/Knowledge
Essential criteria
8. Demonstratable experience of working in child and adolescent mental health services
9. Ability to meet agreed / specified service targets
10. Ability to manage own caseload and time
11. Demontrates high standards in written communication
12. Able to write clear reports and letters to referrers
13. Ability to evaluate and put in place the effect of training
14. Computer Literate
15. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
16. Has received training (either formal or through experience) and carried out risk assessments within scope of practice
17. Able to develop good therapeutic relationships with clients
18. Demonstrates an understanding of common co-morbid mental health difficulties for CYP with ASD/LD
19. Experience of adapting interventions for CYP with ASD/LD
20. Knowledge of NICE guidance for assessment and support of ASD
21. Knowledge of NICE guidance for assessment and support for CYP with LD
Desirable criteria
22. Previous experience of completing neuro/developmental assessments
23. Awareness of differential diagnosis for neurodevelopmental differences
24. Awareness of the importance of systemic support for CYP with ASD/LD
