Stockport NHS Foundation Trust is looking for a caring, enthusiastic individual to join their Integrated Neurorehabilitation team as a Therapy Assistant. Experience in a healthcare setting is essential for this post. You must have an understanding of the role of physiotherapy and occupational therapy within a rehabilitation setting. You will also need to have good time management, prioritisation skills, flexibility and ability to use your own initiative in the completion of tasks.
The post holder will work as part of a committed multidisciplinary team, delivering an excellent therapy service to the patients at the Devonshire Centre for Neurorehabilitation located in a community site close to Stepping Hill Hospital.
The successful applicant will work directly with Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists providing rehabilitation to patients with various complex neurological conditions. Support is provided through the opportunity to work directly with experienced and specialist clinicians within the team.
Main duties of the job
* Under the direction of a qualified registered therapist assist with patient therapy activities.
* Prepare patients for treatment ensuring a safe environment.
* To be able to accurately report back to the therapists any work undertaken.
* Monitor stock and keep up-to-date with documentation i.e. filing and photocopying.
* To assist patient with independent prescribed practice provided by qualified therapists.
* To work alongside therapists/other assistants to run patient activity groups when required.
* To attend home/environmental visits alongside qualified therapists.
* To assist in communication screens when required.
* To be required to work alone in line with relevant policies.
Job responsibilities
The successful applicant will carry out rehabilitation programmes directed by the Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists, with regular reviews of patient goals, and progression of rehabilitation programmes. Alongside direct patient care, the post holder will support the team with admin, service development and housekeeping activities.

If successful this vacancy will require an enhanced DBS check at a cost of £41.90. This cost will be deducted from your first Trust salary. In addition to this it will be a condition of your employment that you will join the DBS update service and pay the annual subscription fee of £13.

Education & Qualifications
* Mathematics GCSE or equivalent
* English GCSE or equivalent
* Evidence of other educational achievements
* Previously worked in Healthcare/Allied Health Professional setting
* Care Certificate
* ECDL or equivalent IT qualification
* NVQ level 3 or equivalent in Health and Social care
Skills
* Good written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work without direct supervision and to organise time effectively
* Ability to work independently following verbal and written instructions
