Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be expected to provide medicalleadership and participate in strategic development of the service, to lead theMDT and be the responsible clinician for the patients under his care, and toprovide high-quality psychiatric assessments of patients referred to theservice in a timely fashion.

St Peters provides care for individuals within four core patient groups:

3. Korsakoffs Syndrome
4. Acquired Brain Injury (ABI)

A trusted NHS partner since 2005, we offer treatment to informal patients, individuals detained under the Mental Health Act as well as those undergoing treatment under the Mental Capacity Act.
St Peters also meets the needs of patients subject to Ministry of Justice restriction orders.

6. Clinical Responsibilities
7. The post holder will be expected to provide medical leadership and participate in strategic development within the service.
8. To provide high quality psychiatric assessments of patients referred to the service in a timely fashion.
9. To lead the MDT and be the responsible officer for the patients under your care. To coordinate the global assessment and treatment options for the patient through integrative working of the MDT.
10. The post holder would be expected to be approved as a Responsible Clinician or be willing to undertake training to obtain Section 12(2) MHA and will be expected to renew this approval according to agreed procedures.
11. To develop and regularly update the clinical risk assessment and management plans for your patients using appropriate techniques and tools as mandated by relevant NICE and other professional guidelines
12. To produce high quality psychiatric reports for CTPs, CPAs, Hospital Managers Meetings, Mental Health Review Tribunals, Ministry of Justice statutory reports, police capacity reports, reports for court, and any other appropriate agency requiring information on your patients.
13. To be participate in the Psychiatrist On call rota.
14. To make highly skilled evaluations and decisions about treatment options taking into account both theoretical and therapeutic models and highly complex factors concerning historical and developmental processes that have shaped the individual, family or group.
15. To strive to provide all medical treatment within NICE and RCPsych college guidelines.
16. To contribute to and supervise the assessment, formulation, diagnosis and treatment plans of clients receiving care and to monitor and evaluate progress during the course of both multi-disciplinary care.
17. To provide expert consultation about the psychiatric care of the client group to staff and agencies as required.
18. To always work according to the principles of clinical governance to ensure that psychiatric practice within LSHG is effective and ethical. To ensure that safeguarding issues are always considered in the process of clinical reasoning and judgement.
19. To ensure evidence of consultation with service users, carers, families and other relevant stakeholders, in any area of service or practice that the postholder is responsible for or involved in.
20. To cover psychiatric colleagues in the event of unavailability and / or absence.

Qualifications
Essential
21. MB BS or equivalent medication qualifications
22. MRSPsych or MRCPsych equivalent approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists for consultant position.
23. Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
24. Included on the GMC Specialist Register OR within six months of gaining CCT.
25. Approved clinician status for consultant position.
26. Approved under S12 for consultant position
