Nursery: Bright Horizons Bury St Edmunds Day Nursery and Preschool
Contract: Part Time / 15 hours / Mon-Fri/ Permanent
Salary: From £23,795 per annum FTE (dependant on qualification/s and experience)
Location: Bury St Edmunds
We are looking for a part time, nursery-based Early Years Kitchen Assistant to join our Bright Horizons Bury St Edmunds Nursery.
Bright Horizons Bury St Edmunds Nursery is Ofsted rated “Good” and is situated in a quiet residential area, with easy access to the A14 and close links to the M33 bus route. The Nursery offers light and airy rooms with free flow access to our large multi-surfaced garden. We also offer on-site parking.

What you’ll be doing
10. Keep the kitchen a clean and safe environment, adhering to internal and external requirements
11. Support the Chef in the preparation and cooking of age-appropriate food for all the children, with minimal food wastage
12. In the absence of the Chef, take responsibility for the running of the kitchen, and ensuring all dietary requirements are catered for and clearly communicated to the teams
13. Promote and ensure child welfare, protection, health and safety and safeguarding
14. Support the Chef to ensure budgetary requirements are met, and stock levels are suitably managed and recorded
15. Work with colleagues to maintain a positive, happy and safe environment
What we’re looking for
16. Previous experience within a role which involves cooking or working in a kitchen within a domestic or commercial property
17. Passion for nutrition, and inspiring others in healthy eating
18. Food Safety CIEH L2 or above (or equivalent) – this must be passed on day 1 in post
19. Sound knowledge of COSHH
20. Ability to demonstrate a sound knowledge of managing different dietary requirements, particularly food allergies
21. Great communication skills, with both colleagues, children, and parents
22. Ability to work under pressure
