Job Title: Senior Electrical Design Engineer

Role Overview:
The Senior Electrical Design Engineer will lead and support a team of junior engineers, manage electrical design projects from inception through completion, and ensure project costs are aligned with budget and timeline expectations. This position also requires client management, fee assessment, and project bid preparation. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of technical expertise, project management experience, and the ability to mentor junior staff.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Design and Management
* Oversee electrical design for various project types, ensuring adherence to industry standards and company policies.
* Produce comprehensive project specifications, designs, drawings, schedules, and cost estimates.
* Manage all stages of project development, from initial concept through to completion, while maintaining quality and financial oversight.
* Conduct site surveys and quality inspections, producing condition reports as needed.
Team Leadership and Mentorship
* Lead and mentor a team of junior electrical engineers, providing technical guidance and ensuring adherence to project timelines and budgets.
* Collaborate closely with team members, fostering a productive, team-oriented environment.
Client and Stakeholder Engagement
* Act as the primary point of contact for clients, attending project meetings and liaising on all project matters.
* Assist in maintaining and expanding the client base, actively contributing to business development and client retention.
Financial Oversight
* Support fee assessments and provide fee bids for projects.
* Monitor financial aspects of projects, ensuring alignment with budget and profitability goals.
Technical Standards and Compliance
* Formulate and implement electrical design standards within the organization.
* Stay updated with relevant regulations and standards, such as CIBSE Guides, IEE Regulations, CDM Regulations, and British Standards.
Requirements:
Experience:
* Demonstrated experience in a consultancy or as part of a large contractor's design team.
* Proficient in project management for multi-disciplinary projects.
* Extensive experience in producing design calculations, detailed specifications, and tender packages.
* Strong CAD proficiency (AutoCAD essential) and familiarity with BIM/Revit standards (UK).
* Experience in conducting surveys and on-site project management.
Knowledge:
* Familiarity with building regulations, energy controls, and relevant industry standards.
* Knowledge of relevant software, including Excel, Word, AutoCAD, REVIT, Microsoft Project, Hevacomp, Amtech, and Dialux Evo.
Education and Certifications:
* Minimum of HNC or Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
* Relevant professional certifications preferred.
