The University of Leicester is seeking a highly experienced Director of Marketing to lead our marketing activities. The successful candidate will develop and implement sector-leading marketing campaigns that enhance and stretch the institution’s brand locally, nationally, and internationally. This pivotal role requires expertise in both domestic and international student recruitment marketing, along with the ability to promote and integrate reputation marketing to effectively position the University’s world-leading research.
The Director of Marketing will oversee the Digital Engagement and Content (Website), Brand and Studio, Student Recruitment Marketing (including Recruitment Events), Research & Corporate Marketing, and Marketing Insight and Special Projects teams. Reporting to the Director of External Relations you will work collaboratively with the Director of the Future Students Office, the Director of Communications and Engagement and the Director of the Attenborough Arts Centre. You will have responsibility for the Brand, Marketing and Digital Engagement teams, circa 40 FTE and will oversee this department by providing day-to-day management direction to meet deliverables and build professional skill sets.

About you
Ideally, you will have significant experience in strategic marketing at a senior level within a large, complex organisation, preferably including experience in higher education. A deep understanding of integrated marketing, including new and emerging communication technologies, is essential.
You will bring brand management and development experience from a large organisation and have a proven track record of successfully managing all aspects of large, complex, organisational-wide projects from inception through to completion. Your extensive experience in leading, motivating, and developing a team of professionals will support a positive and entrepreneurial culture within the department.
A clear understanding of the student recruitment and admissions cycle is crucial. You should have experience developing highly creative solutions and campaigns, with the ability to lead creative teams to deliver successful outcomes. Additionally, a demonstrable understanding of the higher education sector, including current challenges and the international context, is essential for this role.
