Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Oversee the finance department and team, ensuring they function efficiently
2. Develop and implement improvements to the finance function
3. Monitor, maintain and improve financial controls
4. Prepare monthly management accounts and report to senior management and the directors
5. Ensure balance sheet accounts are reconciled on a monthly basis
6. Ensure the fixed asset register is maintained accurately
7. Ensure the stock records are maintained accurately
8. Assist with budgeting and forecasting
9. Assist with management meetings
10. Assist with tax planning and profit improvement plans
11. Complete other ad-hoc requests from senior management and the directors
12. Liaise with the external accountants, auditors, banks and insurers
13. File quarterly VAT returns
14. Ensure compliance with EC Sales documentation
15. Ensure compliance with financial laws and regulations alongside in-house policies
16. Prepare and analyse data using in-house systems
17. Simplify complex reports so they are easy for everyone to understand
18. Ensure accurate, timely, and relevant recording, and analysis of financial information
19. Oversee the sales ledger and credit control functions
20. Oversee the purchase ledger function, including review of payment runs
21. Oversee other general accounting duties and cover members of the team during annual/sick leave
22. Resolve disputes with external stakeholders
Required skills:
23. Accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
24. Previous experience working in industry
25. Proven ability to lead and manage a team effectively
26. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
27. Excellent organisational and time management skills
28. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software
29. Strong attention to detail and accuracy
