First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a Machinist on behalf of one of our clients.
Responsible for the machining and inspection of primarily one-off, fine tolerance engineering components to correct standards and specifications.
Our client encourages applications from ex-military personnel however all candidates will be given due consideration.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Receiving and interpreting engineering drawings and sketches to manufacture engineering components.
2. Writing CNC machining programs on a wide range of equipment.
3. Manufacture and inspection of high end, primarily one-off engineering components.
4. Training and mentoring of apprentices and less skilled members of staff.
5. Development of new machine tools and machining techniques this stems from large investment within the company and manufacturing facility.
6. Maintain high area standards and seek to improve using knowledge of 5S, or similar strategies.
7. Managing multiple project and support requests, often with competing demands and priorities from different teams.
8. Multi-disciplined and able to work across various machine platforms and types of equipment- able to practice general good engineering aptitude.
9. Managing own workloads and expectations, to a certain extent, in line with required timescales.
Skills and Qualifications:
10. Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship to City and Guilds or NVQ level 3.
11. CNC programming experience, CNC milling/turning/grinding.
12. Experience working within a manufacturing development environment.
13. Use of computer (MS Word/Excel).
14. Good verbal and written communication.
15. Good problem-solving ability with real a ‘can do’ attitude.
Desirable:
16. HNC or equivalent.
17. EDM/ wire erosion experience.
18. Experience within a prototype environment/low volume, high tolerance.
