About the Role
Lockheed Martin UK Strategic Systems is seeking a talented Project Accountant to join our team in Helensburgh. This position offers a unique work-life balance with our 9/75 working pattern, providing every other Friday off.

1. Compiling and reviewing budgets using actual performance data, previous budget figures, estimated revenue, and expense reports to ensure proper financial administration.
2. Coordinating various financial cost analyses, including cost allocation, setting up cost control systems, data collection, cost control, and report preparation to maintain the company's cost accounting system.
3. Ensuring cost allocation aligns with established procedures and complies with Corporate policies.
4. Supporting formal reporting for both long-term and short-term financial planning.
5. Analysing financial information and preparing comprehensive financial reports.
6. Assisting in project completion on schedule by following established procedures, schedules, and work plans.
7. Preparing monthly and quarterly financial charts and project lifecycle reporting.
8. Conducting labour analysis and detailed breakdowns of booking levels, demand analysis, and spend profiles to ensure staffing levels meet programme needs.
9. Monitoring and tracking programme expenditures and Earned Value Management (EVM) performance, highlighting issues, concerns, and trends to the programme team to ensure financial commitments are met.
10. Interacting with various programme and financial management personnel, including Commercial and Contract teams, to ensure compliance with company and programme processes and procedures.
11. Performing key month-end reporting tasks such as cost transfer journals, supplier advances, accruals, new order recognition, cash reconciliation, revenue recognition, and OSEC reporting.
12. Supporting and completing invoicing and monthly cost certificates to facilitate customer billing.
13. Conducting risk and opportunity analysis against outputs.

Required skills, qualifications and experience
14. Experience in an Accountant role.
15. Professional qualification (finalist or recently qualified) CIMA, ACCA, ACA (or equivalent) plus industry experience.
16. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to liaise and interact with senior management.
17. High proficiency in Microsoft Excel modelling.
Desirable Skills
18. Knowledge of Enterprise Application Software, with a preference for SAP.
19. Previous financial and/or business management experience in large-scale development or MOD programmes.
20. Experience in Project Management.
21. Ability to think critically and apply cost analysis and cost management principles.
22. Self-starter with excellent interpersonal skills.
23. Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.
24. Capability to work independently without significant direction.
25. Knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM) processes and procedures.
26. Understanding of rate structures and their construction.

Lockheed Martin UK – Strategic Systems (LMUK SS) is the single contractor providing specialist Waterfront In-Service Support to one of the Royal Navy's Submarine Programs. The company provides the Ministry of Defence (MoD) with safe, efficient and responsive support. LMUK SS, as part of the ABL Alliance with AWE and Babcock, is also responsible for the management of operations at RNAD Coulport. Looking to the future, LMUK SS supports the joint US and UK submarine design efforts.
