The Energy Team are a central team operating from within the Property division of Royal Mail Group with the responsibility of delivering energy management support across the whole property portfolio of c.1,800 buildings. With a workforce of over 100,000 employees and a fleet of over 30,000 vehicles, including an ever-expanding EV fleet, Royal Mails ambition is to achieve net zero carbon by 2040 with a 25% water reduction target by 2030.
We are looking for a Field Based Energy Manager, to support the delivery of property energy and water management plans, in line with our net zero carbon, environment and sustainability policies within our London and South East sites.
The role
Working within a wider multi-disciplinary energy management team, the Field Based Energy manager will deliver energy, water, cost, and carbon savings as part of a structured energy management system (EnMS) across our UK estate.
As Field Based Energy Manager, you'll have responsibility for a large geographical region (10-15 large sites, plus 300 smaller buildings), conduct energy surveys to support best practice energy management and work with key stakeholders to help deliver energy savings.
Other accountabilities include:
Lead on-site energy audits and engagement to better understand the building services, controls, user behaviours and operational controls impacting energy performance.
A focus on remote analytics (e.g., monitoring and targeting, measurement and verification) and supporting our BEMS Team in the optimisation of building energy management systems.
Developing 'quick win' energy projects as well supporting longer term capex replacement projects.
Act as an interface between Facilities Management and project delivery teams for energy-related programmes to ensure overall sustainability goals of projects are met.
Support engagement with Operations colleagues and provide practical advice and guidance on energy savings initiatives and encourage a culture of collaboration and support.

About you
You need to have the following skills and experience:
Extensive years in the energy, low-carbon, or related industry.
Experience of conducting energy audits and delivering tangible results.
Excellent understanding of building energy management systems (BEMS) and a understanding of BEMS related ICT infrastructure and connectivity requirements for a large portfolio estate.
Good presentational, communication and written skills.
Chartered (or working towards) chartership status of appropriate professional body (e.g. Energy Institute, CIBSE).
Understanding of ISO50001 Energy Management Systems (EnMS) standard and plan-do-check-act continuous improvement methodology.
A full UK driving licence is required due to extensive travel across and frequent overnight stays.
