Job description
We are seeking a compassionate Substance Misuse Recovery Worker to join a dedicated team in Shrewsbury. In this role, you will support individuals who are experiencing substance misuse issues, helping them on their journey towards recovery. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide tailored support, interventions, and advice to service users, enabling them to lead healthier, more fulfilling lives.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Developing and implementing individual recovery plans in collaboration with service users, addressing their specific needs and goals.
* Managing a caseload of individuals, providing ongoing assessment, support, and review of progress.
* Delivering a range of evidence-based interventions including harm reduction strategies, psychosocial support, and structured treatment plans.
* Engaging with hard-to-reach individuals through outreach services, helping them to access support and treatment.
* Leading and facilitating group sessions on substance misuse, recovery, and wellbeing.
* Working closely with healthcare professionals, social workers, housing providers, and other local agencies to coordinate care and ensure comprehensive support for service users.
* Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of all interactions and interventions, providing reports and data as required by management.
* Identifying and managing risks associated with substance misuse, including safeguarding concerns, mental health issues, and physical health risks.
Requirements:
* Previous experience working within substance misuse, addiction, or mental health services is essential.
* Understanding of recovery-oriented practices and the ability to support individuals with complex needs.
* Ability to communicate effectively with service users, families, and professionals, both verbally and in writing.
* A compassionate approach to supporting individuals in challenging circumstances, with the ability to remain resilient in a demanding environment.
* Ability to manage a diverse caseload, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines.
* Proven ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and build positive working relationships with external partners.
* Enhanced DBS dated within the last 12 months. On the update service? You could be fast tracked through our recruitment process today.
* Willingness to complete an enhanced DBS if you do not currently hold one.
