Job Description
New Directions are currently recruiting for a Learning Support Assistants to work in primary schools situated in the Barry area. The schools that we work with require someone to support the class teacher.
The schools that we work with are comprised of a wealth of support from staff and parents, and they tend to be easily accessible if you travel via public transport.
The successful candidate will possess the below attributes-
1. Experience working with children in a classroom setting, we require three months as a minimum
2. The ability to work under instructions of the class Teacher but also use your own initiative
3. Knowledge of the curriculum to support children in an important stage of their education
4. A nurturing personality due to the nature of working with children in this age range
We specialise in recruiting Teaching Assistants (TA) who are qualified in the following;
5. NVQ Level 2 Teaching Assistant
6. NVQ Level 3 Teaching Assistant
7. Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)
8. CACHE Level 3 in Childcare & Education
9. BTEC National Certificate in Childhood Studies (Nursery Nursing).
We’ll also consider experienced Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) who have previously held a job in a primary school or assisted a pupil in the role in a secondary school but do not hold any of the above qualifications.

As a teaching assistant you’ll be expected to:
19. Assist in the educational and social development of pupils under the direction and guidance of the head teacher, ALNCO and class teachers
20. Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Programmes (IEP) for students and help monitor their progress
21. Provide support for individual students inside and outside the classroom to enable them to fully participate in activities
22. Assist class teachers with maintaining student records
23. Support students with emotional or behavioural problems and help develop their social skills.
