Here at Serco we support the development of the RAF’s next generation of aircrew, engineers and air traffic controllers through our unique contract with the Air Cadet organisation. We maintain and manage their fleet of gliders, and as our Aircraft Engineering Supervisor you’ll play a key role in keeping these aircraft operational and in the air.
Main accountabilities:
1. You will carry out the responsibilities and duties of Support Staff with Supervisory Responsibilities in accordance with Military Aviation Authority Regulatory Publication Regulatory Article 1 and Part .
2. We are looking for an individual who is able to lead and supervise engineering personnel carrying out maintenance on Viking and other contract-related aircraft at RAF Syerston and other locations throughout the UK.
3. You will carry out associated roles and duties as directed by the business needs.
4. The role will be based at RAF Syerston and will also be required to satisfy the regular UK-wide mobile requirements of the role.
5. You’ll be a key member of our dedicated aviation team. We’re a close-knit team of professionals who actively support each other – and as well as ongoing career progression and development we can offer flexible working arrangements and an early finish on a Friday.
What you need to do the role:
6. To meet the qualification and experience requirements of the role, we require our Supervisors to meet one or more of the following. Be appropriately experienced and have completed, as a minimum, MOD Phase 2 technical training or be appropriately experienced and have completed suitable civilian training (civilian contractors only).
7. The successful post holder must demonstrate having experience to hold Support Staff with Supervisory Responsibilities or civilian equivalent. You should have a minimum of 5-years’ experience in equivalent civilian industry or Armed Forces in a relevant trade group. Other important attributes we are looking for include good fault diagnosis skills, be technically competent and possess good communication skills both written and verbal.
8. Because the aircraft are stationed around the UK you’ll not only need to travel away, which may involve several overnight stays, but you must also hold a full driving licence.
9. You’ll also need to be medically fit to work in an aircraft engineering environment, with manual handling and aircraft rigging and de-rigging (physically demanding) as part of the job.
