What does the job entail?
On behalf of Warwickshire County Council, Pertemps Recruitment have an exciting opportunity for a Principal Planning Officer to join their team. This is a high-profile post and would be an ideal opportunity for someone who has worked as a Principal Planning Officer, that is looking to further develop their experience within Local Authority.
You will achieve this by:
1. To lead and assist in the formulation of strategic policy and advise on its implementation and monitoring.
2. To provide strategic guidance and advice on strategic planning matters to colleagues at local, sub-regional, regional level and in some cases, national level.
3. To Play a leading role in the preparation of the Minerals and Waste Local Plans and the Plans’ evidence base including the Sustainability Appraisal (SA), Habitats Regulations Assessment (HRA) and other documents and evidence, required to progress the Plans through to adoption.
4. To lead on the production of policy monitoring documents including the Local Aggregate Assessment (LAA) and Annual Monitoring Report (AMR) and to enable the collection of data for the annual Aggregate Working Party (AWP) returns for the West Midlands region.
5. To attend and brief the appropriate County Council Committees as necessary, to ensure planning policy documents are presented to members, prior to their approval.
6. To attend meetings both on a sub-regional and local basis and to engage with members of the public, consultees, developers and Council Members.
7. To make representations on planning applications submitted to the Local Planning Authorities on any minerals safeguarding issues.
8. To make representations relating to minerals and waste policy on planning applications submitted to the County Council, as Local Planning Authority.
What are we looking for in the ideal candidate?
9. At least 5 years post degree or equivalent experience in land use planning policy or corporate policy related work
10. Experience of working on Minerals & Waste plans
11. The ability to deal with framework relating to Section 106
12. Confidently able to put together strategic responses on planning issues relating to Minerals & waste
