Teaching Assistant
A Primary School in Lewisham is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our team from January 2025. This is a full-time role, where you will work in our Year 3 class in the mornings and our reception class in the afternoons, providing invaluable support to children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
Key Responsibilities:
Morning (Year 3 Class):
Provide tailored support for children with SEND, ensuring they can access the curriculum and thrive in the classroom.
Assist the class teacher with planning and delivering lessons, adapting content as needed for different learning styles and abilities.
Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
Afternoon (Reception Class):
Support children with SEND during their early years development, ensuring they are fully included in classroom activities.
Help with the delivery of phonics, literacy, and numeracy activities that are adapted to the needs of individual children.
Encourage social interaction and emotional development, promoting positive behaviour and well-being.Requirements:
Experience working with children, particularly those with SEND, is highly desirable.
A strong understanding of strategies to support children with additional learning needs.
A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach.
The ability to work collaboratively with teachers and other staff to provide the best support for the children.
