We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Laboratory Technician to join my clients team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting a variety of tests on construction materials to ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
This role involves both laboratory-based and occasional on-site work.
Key Responsibilities:
* Sample Preparation:
* Collect samples of materials such as soil, concrete, asphalt, and aggregates from construction sites.
* Prepare samples for testing, including crushing, sieving, and mixing.
* Laboratory Testing:
* Conduct a range of tests, including:
* Soil tests (e.g., Atterberg limits, compaction tests, sieve analysis)
* Concrete tests (e.g., compressive strength, slump tests, air content tests)
* Asphalt tests (e.g., Marshall stability tests, penetration tests)
* Aggregate tests (e.g., sieve analysis, specific gravity tests)
* Utilise laboratory equipment and instruments accurately and efficiently.
* Record test data and results meticulously.
* On-Site Work:
* Occasionally visit construction sites to collect samples and observe construction activities.
* Conduct field tests as required (e.g., density tests, moisture content tests).
Qualifications and Skills:
* Education:
* Associate's degree or equivalent in civil engineering technology, construction technology, or a related field.
* Experience:
* 1-2 years of experience in a laboratory setting, in construction materials testing
* Strong understanding of construction materials and testing methods.
* Proficiency in using laboratory equipment and instruments.
* Knowledge of relevant industry standards (e.g., ASTM, AASHTO).
* Proficiency in data analysis and report writing
* Attention to detail and accuracy.
* Strong organizational and time management skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills.
* Willingness to work on-site as needed.
