Job Description
Social video whizzes, we need you! Metro brings news, sport, analysis, features, opinion, and everything in between to a fast-growing global audience and we’re now looking for a talented Social Video Journalist, specialising in news, to join our London team.
You’ll be responsible for pitching, producing and delivering daily and weekly news video content with a focus on TikTok, Facebook, YouTube and other key platforms. As such, this role requires experience and knowledge of every major social platform, with particular emphasis on TikTok. Ideal candidates will have a great understanding of current affairs and everything important to Gen Z (and maybe millennials too). You’ll be across reactive news and original formats.
Your fingers must be on the pulse of online conversation. You should be able to spot a new story or rising trend and act quickly to generate engaging video content around this. The ability to create and present a compelling narrative is a must.
We’re particularly looking for candidates with a bubbly personality who can bring energy to every single video they star in. That’s why we’re asking for you to submit a TikTok/short-form video introducing yourself, alongside your CV.

* Understand legal covenants such as the UK Editors’ Code of Practice, media law, copyright law and editorial guidelines in the UK and globally
Key Skills and Experience

The above list is not exhaustive and constantly evolving, based on the needs of the business. Out-of-hours availability and a high level of adaptability are essential.
Your shift rotation will include one day of the weekend.
Please apply by sending an up-to-date CV and TikTok/short-form video introducing yourself (a link from the CV to a video will suffice).
Any applications received without a CV and an accompanying video will not be considered.
