The Role
The Business Intelligence Officer will be a part of a high-performing team in linking finances to capability outcomes that are strategically aligned to Government priorities. In addition, the Business Manager will play a key role in the School of Military Engineering (SME) effectively and efficiently using resources to deliver required outcomes.
The role includes a range of finance, procurement, stakeholder engagement and data analysis tasks. Situated within SME - Holsworthy Bks, Holsworthy, NSW. The Business Intelligence Officer will operate within a close-knit team, directly supporting SME - Holsworthy's training functions.
They will interpret and provide advice within the business analysis function based on legislation, policy and procedures.
They are expected to be capable of reviewing and developing the quality of work undertaken by others and identifying opportunities for on-the-job training within a work unit.

The SME team is a small but motivated and experienced cohort, comprising APS and uniformed members. As the Business Intelligence Officer you will be working within the Operations Cell of HQ SME. The Operations Cell consists of primarily ADF members of various ranks.
The Business Intelligence Officer will coordinate and contribute to the work of the team consistent to a work plan. They will also provide advice and assistance on tasks and methods of completion to team members across the SME.

The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated, self-starter with the ability to work with autonomy and limited supervision and able to work effectively in a small, collaborative team environment.
To be successful in this position, the ideal candidate must have:
1. Experience in Resource Management, finance and procurement as they will be required to organise their workflow and make independent decisions relating to their area of responsibility;
2. They will be required to have and maintain a well-developed understanding of and compliance to relevant legislative frameworks, government decision-making and mission and policy requirements;
3. Previous experience in resource management or finance will be highly regarded;
4. Knowledge or the ability to quickly acquire knowledge of Army financial and resource management processes;
5. Contribute to resource and financial planning and policy development for SME;
6. Experience in preparing financial reports and managing capability resources; and
7. Build and sustain effective relationships with team members and actively participate in team work and group activities.
