Job description
As a Social Work Assistant, you will be supporting qualified Social Workers in helping, advising and protecting a wide range of vulnerable individuals.
Responsibilities include, but isn’t limited to:
* Assisting and working with social workers to ensure the safeguarding of vulnerable children/young people.
* Providing direct support to children and families, to enable plans to be to progressed in a more timely manner.
* Working in partnership with colleagues from a range of different agencies to enable good communication, and ensure children and young people are safeguarded.
* Actively contributing to the professional development of yourself and others.
* Assisting social workers and others in the assessment of need and the implementation of plans for children and families.
* Participating in team activities e.g. team meetings, case discussions, reviews of team work.
* Maintaining effective working relationships and contributing to a working environment which is safe, considerate and supportive to all.
Requirements:
* At least two years' experience of working with children, young people and their families in a social care environment, through paid or voluntary work experience.
* Experience of working in a team.
* Experience of managing challenging situations or conflict.
* Experience of working to deadline, managing priorities and ability to work in a high-pressure environment.
* Experience of keeping records of work undertaken.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* DBS dated within the last 12 months - on the update service? You could be fast tracked through our recruitment process today
* Willingness to complete an enhanced DBS if you do not currently hold one.
