About the role
We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, and dedicated Service Manager to join our Family Safeguarding Team.
We are the first authority within the Greater Manchester area to implement and pioneer Hertfordshire’s Family Safeguarding model. This is a fantastic opportunity to change the way we work with children and families in order to achieve the best possible outcomes for the children of Bury.
Within Family Safeguarding we use motivational interviewing and a multi-agency approach under the Family Safeguarding model, where Social Workers, Family Support Workers, Domestic Abuse Practitioners, Recovery Workers, Mental Health Practitioners, and Psychologists collaborate closely to address family issues efficiently, reducing the need for referrals to other agencies.
You will have operational oversight of children and young people who are subject child in need and child protection planning, who are subject to pre-proceedings and in care and private law proceedings.

What will you be doing?
You will have a sound understanding and ability in relation to effective management practices, particularly as they relate to service planning and performance management and development of services and staff.
You will have operational responsibility for 6 Team Managers providing leadership, management and support across Family Safeguarding to achieve effective and efficient service delivery.
You will ensure that there are effective systems and procedures in place to develop and maintain the delivery of key priorities and objectives. You will report and provide analysis of the service's key performance indicators to the Head of Service and the Director of Social Work Practice
You will work alongside partner agencies at a strategic level to improve practice and embed the core values and principles in relation to Family Safeguarding.
You will lead on exciting an innovative projects within Bury as part of our practice improvement journey.
About you
You will be an experienced leader and manager within Children's Social Care and be skilled in supporting a service through change. You will be required to make a positive contribution to all practice areas within Family Safeguarding and work alongside Service Mangers in other parts of the service. You should be a qualified social worker, registered with Social Work England with extensive post-qualifying experience of statutory social care practice and multi-agency contact is highly essential.
Level 5 NVQ Management qualification, or equivalent relevant experience.
You will have a sound understanding and ability in relation to effective management practices, particularly as they relate to service planning and performance management and development of services and staff.
Driving Licence is essential.
