Phoenix is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and self-motivated Clerk to our Governing Body, working on a part-time basis and mostly remotely. The postholder will be accountable to the governing body, working effectively with the chair of governors, the headteacher, and other governors to facilitate and ensure the efficient running of the school. Main duties and responsibilities will include:
1. Providing advice on governance legislation and procedural matters, acting as the first point of contact for Governors both during and outside of meetings.
2. Effective administration of meetings including preparation of agenda and minutes and monitoring agreed action points.
3. Monitoring the membership of, and statutory training for the Governing Body including arranging elections and ensuring statutory clearances are obtained.
4. Maintaining records and information in accordance with GDPR.
We are looking for a candidate with substantial administrative experience, proven ability and experience in writing agenda and producing accurate minutes of formal meetings. An understanding of GDPR is important, and applicants will, ideally, have knowledge of governance procedures and practice in education settings.
Excellent IT skills, and the ability to work alone with minimal supervision are essential, as is the requirement to work flexibly in accordance with Governing Body meeting schedules and the needs of the job.
