Job description
Aspire are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Music Teacher to join our team in a long-term role, teaching Key Stage 4 students at an Alternative Provision in Kidderminster.
This role is an exciting opportunity to work with students who have a range of Special Educational Needs, using music to support their academic and emotional development.
Key Responsibilities:
* Plan and deliver creative, engaging music lessons tailored to meet the diverse needs of Key Stage 4 students with SEN.
* Adapt teaching methods and materials to support students with a range of needs, including:
o Communication & Interaction: Supporting young people with speech, language, and communication needs.
o Cognition & Learning: Helping students who may learn at a slower pace, even with appropriate differentiation.
o Social, Emotional & Mental Health Difficulties: Working with students who may experience social and emotional challenges such as anxiety, depression, self-harm, or other mental health issues, as well as students with conditions like Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), or Attachment Disorder.
o Sensory and/or Physical Needs: Supporting students with hearing impairments, visual impairments, or physical disabilities.
* Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages self-expression and fosters emotional well-being.
* Collaborate with SEN staff, therapists, parents, and other professionals to ensure comprehensive support for each student's learning journey.
* Monitor student progress, providing regular feedback and making adjustments to individual education plans (IEPs) as necessary.
Requirements:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant teaching qualification.
* Experience in teaching students with SEN, particularly in Key Stage 4, is highly desirable.
* A strong understanding of SEN categories and the ability to adapt teaching approaches accordingly.
* Proficiency in music education with the ability to teach various instruments and genres.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team.
