Community Safety Enforcement Officer

We are currently looking for a Community Safety Enforcement Officer to join Newport City Council!
Under the direction of the Antisocial Behaviour Manager carry out enforcement operations and community engagement and education projects with the aim to reduce antisocial behaviour and enhance public protection in Newport in accordance with statutory legislation and Council policies and procedures.
Location: Civic centre Newport
Hours: 8am - 5pm (23 hours per week, 3 days flexible)
Duration: 6+ Months
Hourly Rate: £15.17

1. Experience in ASB enforcement
2. DBS needed (This can be provided)
Key Responsibilities:
- To enforce all relevant statutes and regulations relating to antisocial behaviour and public protection as assigned during and outside of normal operating working hours.
- To respond to complaints and provide advice and support to residents and businesses on antisocial behaviour reduction in accordance with statutory requirements.
- To carry out investigations into breaches of antisocial behaviour and key public protection legislation in Newport.
- To undertake interviews in accordance with the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984.
- To issue and record Statutory Notices in accordance with Legislation, Council Policies and Procedures.
- To issue and record Fixed Penalty Notice Charges in accordance with Legislation, Council Policies and Procedures.
- To undertake proactive patrols on an intelligence led basis with the aim of identifying antisocial behaviour and public protection breaches and gathering community intelligence.
- To prepare prosecution files relating to antisocial behaviour and key public protection legislation and attend Court where required.
- To collate data and prepare reports on activities associated with the role.
- To use software packages and Council's internal systems as required to carry out the job role.
- To fully operate the Council's protocol and procedures with regards to dog control.
- To locate and pick up stray dogs and ensure their transportation to the Council kennel.
