We are currently working with a full-scale creative merchandise agency in the appointment of an indirect tax accountant.
In an industry of excess - the company lead through sustainability to generate wellbeing for generations to come. Working as a key part of the Indirect Tax team, you will be responsible for the robust accounting and reporting of financial information relating to Indirect Tax. You will be an essential part of the process in the preparation and submission of VAT returns across the UK and Europe.
There will also be an opportunity to assist the tax team with advisory projects. This will include reviewing and implementing processes, reviewing supply chains, and ensuring that the business is compliant throughout the UK and EU.
This role would be ideal for an individual who is passionate with strong communication skills and the ability to work independently whilst recognising the importance of teamwork.
Responsibilities:
1. Responsibility for timely preparation and submission of VAT returns.
2. Assist with VAT registrations and de-registrations across various jurisdictions.
3. Responsible for cash management. Monitoring VAT payments and refunds.
4. Ensuring that the import VAT is reviewed and recovered correctly in multiple jurisdictions in a timely manner.
5. Month-end close and co-ordination of VAT related system tasks and processes.
6. Monthly reconciliation of all VAT related balance sheet control accounts, including accurate summaries, timely resolution of reconciling items and advising on & actioning recoverability of aged items.
7. Forecasting of VAT return cash inflows & outflows, following prior trends and incorporating current business activities.
8. Provide support in the year-end financial audit for all Indirect Tax queries and deliverables.
9. Support the Indirect tax manager in providing day to day assistance to internal and external stakeholders on any VAT queries as and when they arise.
10. Continuously review our systems and processes to maximise tax reporting capabilities and ensure compliance. Work with the Indirect Tax Manager to review our operational tax processes to create efficiencies and enhance reliability over accuracy of indirect tax reporting.
11. Additional project work as required by the Indirect Tax Manager and the wider finance team.
You:
12. Ideally studying towards or possessing a relevant qualification: ATT, AAT, ACA, ACCA, CTA or a recent Finance Graduate.
13. Ideally with minimum 2 years' experience in an Accounting/ Finance role, preferably indirect tax
14. Experience in VAT accounting and financial reconciliations, including balance sheet reconciliations.
15. Experience in preparing and submitting VAT return within the UK and EU
16. Experience is liaising with tax authorities.
