The Role
Lancaster City Council is looking to recruit highly motivated Resident Support Officers to join the team supporting the most in need in our district.
This team will work with and be managed by the Customer Services Team.
Your duties will include administering the Household Support Fund as well as signposting people to other support within the district. The Household Support Fund is funded by the UK Government to support those in our district who are struggling to afford the essentials.
The role will involve you providing updates on people’s applications in person and over the phone as well as supporting people to provide the correct documentation before the case is sent for assessment. Once a full financial assessment has been carried out by North Lancashire Citizens Advice, you will be responsible for processing the awards.
You may also be out and about in the district providing help, advice, and support as well as signposting to third party organisations where appropriate.
We are looking for individuals who are self-motivated, organised, and can follow procedures as well as being proficient in working with technology and IT.
This post is temporary until 31st March 2025; therefore, we are ideally looking for people who can start quickly.
The hours of work for this position are 37 hours per week, working Monday to Friday. There may be the occasional evening or weekend work required.
The successful applicant will be subject to a basic clearance with the Disclosure and Barring Service.
A full current UK driving licence is desirable but not essential. As a result, you will be required to sign up to the authorised external DVLA driving licence validation organisation that we use to manage and monitor our employees' driving licence data. Reasonable adjustments can be made for those who are unable to drive due to a disability.
For internal applicants, this role will be considered for a secondment opportunity. The secondment of an employee from another Service can only take place with the agreement of the Manager of the Service the applicant is contracted to. When this role comes to an end, the successful internal applicant will return to their substantive role.

You will identify with our organisational values of Pride, Ownership, Working Together, and Ambition.
