The apprentice will undergo extensive training at college and on the Gardner site in order to achieve a minimum of NVQ Level 3 qualification within an agreed timescale.
As a fab/weld apprentice, the apprentice will be taught the practical and theoretical skills associated with fabrication and welding. They will learn many subjects including basic bench fitting/hand tool skills, workshop safety, measuring and marking out, engineering drawing, different welding techniques including MIG, TIG and MMA, flame cutting, forming and rolling steel plate and sheet metal work.
The welder fabricator uses a variety of methods to produce a product for the customer. At one end of the spectrum is detailed drawing, which will cover all aspects of a build, at the other end is a sketch of the end product, produced by the customer.
