The Business Development Manager's primary responsibilities include overseeing the food service strategy for the business. This role will have overall responsibility for the building and realisation of the sales and business development revenue targets, development, and growth of new and existing clients across food service, sales and marketing for our customer base. The successful incumbent will be expected to drive customer engagement, share gains, and increase trade investment productivity.
Working within a fast-growing Italian Food & Wine importer and distribution business, the role, based in Brentford will require the successful candidate to develop a sales strategy for winning new business within the food service environment. Role Summary:
The Business Development Manager for Food Service is responsible for identifying new business opportunities, developing strategies to penetrate existing markets, and expanding the company's footprint within the food service industry. This role involves building and maintaining relationships with key clients, negotiating contracts, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure successful implementation of business initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Market Analysis and Strategy Development:
Conduct market research to identify trends, competitor activities, and potential opportunities.
Develop comprehensive business strategies to penetrate new markets and expand market share within existing territories.
Client Relationship Management:
Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, including food service providers, restaurants, hotels, and catering companies.
Act as the primary point of contact for client inquiries, concerns, and negotiations.
New Business Development:
Bring a suite of potential clients that the candidate already has existing relationships with.
Prospect and acquire new clients through networking, cold calling, and attending industry events.
Identify and pursue business opportunities that align with the company's objectives and target market.
Sales and Revenue Generation:
Develop sales forecasts and set targets to achieve revenue goals.
Negotiate contracts, pricing agreements, and service level agreements to ensure profitability and customer satisfaction.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
Work closely with internal teams such as marketing, operations, and product development to align business strategies and drive growth initiatives.
Provide feedback on market trends, customer needs, and competitive intelligence to inform product development and marketing efforts.
Performance Tracking and Reporting:
Monitor sales performance against targets and key performance indicators (KPIs).
Prepare regular reports and presentations to communicate progress, challenges, and opportunities to senior management.
