Following significant investment into the School of Games and Creative Technologies, we are seeking to appoint a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer - Games Programming and Development to join our outstanding team of educators, practitioners and researchers.
The School of Games and Creative Technology is a vibrant community of students, academic teaching staff, researchers and industry specialists, working together to create innovative games and creative technologies practice and research. Central to the school’s ethos is the combination of high-quality teaching, leading research and vibrant knowledge exchange with industry partners. The school has strong relationships with the gaming sector, as well as a designated incubator programme to support students to develop creative IP. Students are encouraged promote their excellent work externally, and this year alone we have a number of finalists and winners from Games Development and Games Arts for both national and international competitions (Grads in Games and Sega 2 Point). As part of their courses games students work on client briefs, this year working on a large-scale project led by Supermassive Games’ Dark Pictures anthology.
Over the last few years, the school has attracted over £3M additional funding to support facilities, research and knowledge exchange, producing some exciting industry-facing collaborations. As well as industry-level games labs, the School boasts facilities including motion capture, volumetric capture and virtual production. The role will be based at the Farnham campus, just outside Guildford and will directly report to the School’s Programme Director for Games.
UCA is seeking to recruit dynamic and innovative educators and we are seeking a candidate who will ideally have industry experience in Games and experience of working in higher education student facing delivery, including curriculum design aligned to contemporary practice.
As Lecturer/Senior Lecturer - Games Programming and Development, youwill have proven knowledge and experience of software for computer games development with a particular focus on Unreal (C++, Blueprints) and Unity (C#) games engines. Experience of 3D modelling and an understanding of contemporary game development pipeline workflows are desirable. You will take a leading role in delivering games programming to students, principally on the BSc Games Development degree and MA Games Engineering, but you may contribute to a variety of games courses. It is an opportunity to express your creativity, skill, enthusiasm for the subject, and experience to contribute to the delivery of the exciting games programmes at UCA.
You will have a good honours degree, ideally a postgraduate degree, great professional experience, and detailed knowledge of contemporary developments in the subject area and wider creative industries.

You must be able to demonstrate good team working abilities, as well as good organisational and communication skills. The teaching duties will include all related course administration and require the successful candidate to be pro-active in developing new learning and teaching methods. You will also be required to participate in marketing and student recruitment activities and to potentially engage in professional research in the subject area.
