Location: Tadcaster, UK (On-site)
Contract Duration: 2nd December 2024 - End of February 2025 (Potential for extension)
Shift Pattern: 2pm - 10pm, 5 days a week
Rate: Up to £52 Outside IR35.
Purpose of the Role
As a Software Engineer, you will be responsible for commissioning and developing software for automation machines. The role requires expertise in Siemens TIA V19, motion control, and industrial automation, contributing to the full software lifecycle of pharmaceutical and process manufacturing applications.
Key Responsibilities
1. Software Development & Commissioning:
Develop and modify PLC software, HMI/visualization systems, motion, and vision applications.
Utilize Siemens TIA V19, WinCC Unified HMI, and integrate motion/servo drives.
Work with PackML, Keyence Vision, and optionally Staubli robots.
2. On-Site Support:
Travel to customer sites in the UK and overseas for commissioning (SAT) and post-installation support.
Provide support across multiple departments, including simulations, hardware/software selection, and project estimating.
3. Documentation & Reporting:
Create/modify design documentation including I/O lists, FDS, SDS, and test documents (FAT/SAT).
Ensure quality and compliance with Machine Directive (BS EN 12100) throughout the project lifecycle.
4. Continuous Improvement:
Actively contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and provide technical support during design reviews.
Manage scope changes and communicate project status to stakeholders effectively.
Required Skills and Experience
Essential:
1. Proficiency in Siemens TIA V19 programming and safety systems.
2. Experience in full lifecycle software projects for manufacturing environments.
3. Knowledge of mechatronic or electrical engineering.
Desirable:
1. Familiarity with Rockwell platforms, Mitsubishi, or Allen Bradley systems.
2. Experience integrating robotics and vision systems into automation.
3. Background in process automation and servo drive integration.
Qualifications
Desirable:
1. HNC, HND, or BSc in Electrical or Mechatronic Engineering.
2. Apprentice-trained in Electrical or Mechatronic Engineering.
