This is an exciting opportunity to join the North London Mental Health Trust in a brand-new role designed to enhance the support and care provided within our units.
As a Mental Health Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in supporting staff, ensuring smooth operations and fostering a supportive workplace culture.
Job Description
The Mental Health Specialist will work closely with the Key Account Manager and Operations Lead to create a positive work environment, enhance employee engagement, and support high standards of performance.
With a primary focus on employee well-being, this role involves managing the company’s sickness credit scheme, offering an open-door policy for team members, and acting as a trained mental health first aider to connect employees with professional support when needed.
In addition to well-being efforts, the Mental Health Specialist will collaborate on environmental and social value initiatives, track progress toward sustainability, and report on key performance metrics.
Through these initiatives, the specialist will help reduce sickness and turnover rates, support the workforce’s overall wellness, and contribute to community well-being and sustainability goals.
This role presents an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on employee satisfaction and to promote a culture of mental wellness and environmental responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
* Support employment matters, including occupational health, sickness absence, grievances, and performance management per company policies and employment law
* Review and assist with employee relations documentation; draft support documents as needed
* Assist managers in conducting meetings, investigations, hearings, and other engagement activities
* Provide guidance on employee relations; escalate complex issues for additional support
* Maintain communication with your manager and People & Culture team for aligned operations
* Lead social value projects, collaborating to meet contract objectives
* Ensure compliance with company and client policies and relevant guidelines
* Promote equal opportunity and diversity, fostering an inclusive and respectful culture
Professional and Personal Competencies/Qualifications
* Experience, preferably in Human Resource Management, Mental Health Support, Social Value, or a related field
* Strong team-oriented and collaborative mindset
* High level of change readiness and resilience, with a problem-solving approach
* Strong case management skills, adaptable to shifting priorities
* Ability to multitask and manage projects effectively
* Deadline-driven, with the ability to manage timelines efficiently
* Excellent communication skills, with empathy for client and team needs
* Proficiency in report production, statistical analysis, and communications
* Experience in service facilities management and/or outsourced model environments (preferred)
* Strong organisational skills, able to balance multiple tasks and responsibilities
