We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Project Planner/ Controls Engineer to join our team in Leeds. The role is to provide planning & scheduling support to the Project Controls Manager and wider Project Management Team and will involve working on a portfolio of engineering and construction projects in various sectors including Distribution Centres, Pharma, Healthcare, Government, Data Centres among others.
As a consultancy, Gleeds provide our professional services to a range of clients their needs are very specific, therefore we work in a capacity to support our clients and assist them in a range of project controls focused outputs. Our potential new colleague should be proficient in planning software specifically P6, experience using Asta and Microsoft Project. Experience in Power BI and data analytics desirable but not essential.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Implement planning & scheduling processes for a portfolio of projects.
* Understand and use the software, systems and related tools.
* Understand the schedule updates, backup requirements and reporting cycles.
* Ensure project schedules are stored correctly and named appropriately in the project SharePoint sites.
* Ensure monthly updates of all schedules are completed before the end of the month for reporting.
* Reporting is maintained for own projects and reports are up to date.
* Coordinate with PMs and project teams to establish specific project responsibilities.
* Lead the development of detailed project schedules, including baseline schedules.
* Lead interactive planning sessions with project teams and other stakeholders, as necessary.
* Understand and implement time risk allowances (TRA), ensuring it is appropriately implemented.
* Perform technical schedule analysis (review of float, logic, etc.)
* Regularly report against project progress and ensure schedule information is included in project reports.
* Review schedules from Contractors and supply partners to integrate into project plans.
* Review Contractors schedules and provide assurance to our clients of schedule integrity.
* Propose different priority of activities as appropriate, and review with the project team.
* Review project and contractor changes for appropriate schedule impact.
* Resource and cost load schedules, when necessary.
* Coordinate with the project QS to ensure cost / schedule integration.
* Implementation of EVM practices if required.
* Assist in managing, controlling and tracking the project cashflow against the baseline budget.
* Proactively review NEC Contractor Programme submissions and feedback to PM on appropriate response.

About You
Who we’re looking for:
Experience, Knowledge and Key Skills
Essential
* Experience in projects and/or construction management.
* Experience in project controls – planning and scheduling.
* Thorough knowledge of critical path method (CPM) scheduling.
* Experience using Primavera P6, Microsoft Project and Asta.
* Experience in various software systems including Microsoft Office.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including presentations and reports.
* Proven team contributor, willing to consider and accept other views and concepts in reaching critical decisions.
Desirable
* Knowledge of NEC 3/4 contracts and JCT.
* Experience using CEMAR or alternative Contract Management software.
* Experience of contract tendering and administration.
* Understanding of cost control and estimating.
* Power BI and Dashboard reporting.
Qualifications and Experience
* Degree (preferable) in an engineering/construction related subject with 6 to 10 years related experience.
