This role involves working in Business Doncaster, the Council's economic development unit to lead Business Doncaster’s approach to the development of the retail and leisure sector in Doncaster. Working in conjunction with public and private partners, the postholder is expected to actively contribute towards Council outcomes in relation to generating new inward investment into Doncaster, and creating new jobs for Doncaster residents.
The postholder will be responsible for leading and maintaining a compelling inward investment strategy for retail and leisure in Doncaster, paying attention to voids across key urban centres and retails parks. The postholder will also be responsible for generating major retail and leisure sector specific enquiries through a proactive and systematic process of networking, direct contact to target companies and individuals, marketing campaigns and attendance at events. The postholder should be experienced in working and delivering outcomes related to Inward Investment and Economic Development, possess significant business development experience working with the private sector, and have a good working knowledge of policy and strategy across the retail and leisure sectors. The post holder should also have excellent communication skills and the ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. The post holder is expected to be flexible and responsive, working to the needs of the service at all times.
