Interim Service Manager / Service Engineer
Location: Surrey, hybrid Work From Home
Circa 3-month Assignment
Day Rate Negotiable – Immediate Start
A leading Capital Equipment business that provides Machinery to the Food and FMCG sector is seeking to appoint an Interim Service Manager / Service Engineer to cover a period of absence for approximately 3 months. This will be a hybrid role, loosely 50% on site in Surrey and 50% Work from Home, to be discussed and agreed.
Duties of the role will include:
* Provide advice and ‘triage’ support to customers over the telephone, regarding maintenance and repair of company installed equipment.
* Coordinate the diaries and activities of a team of Field Service Engineers, set appointments for Field Service Engineers to attend customer sites, clearly communicate service jobs and priorities.
* Gain an understanding of the skillset of each Field Service Engineer and use this knowledge to allocate the right job to the Engineer with the right skillset.
* Coordinate and communicate scheduled maintenance activities, breakdown repairs and equipment installations with Field Engineers and Project Engineers.
* Ensure Installations and Service work is completed on time and to the customers’ satisfaction.
* Deliver on measurables such as first-time fix, speed of response and follow-up, customer satisfaction.
* Build and maintain productive relationships with customers, acting as a first point of contact for customers, providing Installation and Warranty Support.
* Take orders for parts over the telephone and email, manage inventory and supply customers with OEM and generic parts.
* Provide spare parts quotations, maintaining expected profit margin.
* Manage stock at the optimum levels, to ensure the availability of aftermarket parts, using historical data and forecasts.
* Ensure proactive communication exists between the Service/Aftermarket team and the wider business such as Sales and Projects.
The Person
* An Engineering background is required as this will enable you to understand issues customers are having with machines and how best approach this, to provide a great outcome for the customer.
* Previous experience of High Value Capital equipment and working as a Field Service Manager, Engineering Manager, Service Manager, Aftermarket Manager or Service Engineer would be ideal.
* Leadership qualities and the gravitas to quickly earn the trust and respect of the Field Service Engineers is required.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills is a further requirement.
* A track record in problem solving and meeting deadlines is also expected.
