Honeycomb is delighted to be partnering with Public Sector Organisation for an Environmental Health Technical Assistant ( Food Control) within their Community and Wellbeing directorate. Temporary until March 2025, with possibility of extension. The Role - the successful candidate is required to undertake food hygiene, and premises inspections and sampling across the borough. Base site of Newtownards. Duties would include but not be limited to: Shellfish and Shellfish water sampling for the Food Standards Agency Public Health borehole water sampling for The Drinking Water Inspectorate department of the NIEA. Microbiological and chemical food sampling as directed by Environmental Health Officers. Food inspections, revisits and ensuring premises are operating in a legally compliant manner. Liaise with Harbour Master regarding the fish markets in relation to food production. Provide information, advice and guidance as necessary with elected members, other council departments and various agencies on matters pertaining to food production. To attend course, seminars etc pertaining to Environmental Health issues in order to enhance the service delivery. To access the requirement for microbiological and chemical sampling of food products in processing establishments. Qualifications: Hold a recognised qualification in meat and/or food inspection which permits inspection of food and/or food premises. Experience: Previous experience in the field of food sampling procedures. Experience of dealing with the public, businesses and representatives of organisations in an enforcement or advisory capacity. Experience of maintaining records.
