Position Description:
Secure Innovation is part of CGI’s Space, Defence and Intelligence business unit, focused primarily on the delivery of contemporary and innovative technical solutions for the government agencies most challenging problems. Our teams work alongside our clients to help them understand how to exploit technologies to maintain competitive advantage. We are currently looking for an experienced Network Engineer to join our team – being able to think outside of the box to overcome technical challenges is essential!
Your future duties and responsibilities:
The successful candidate will play a crucial role in sustaining and automating our key infrastructure systems. This position involves working on task packages allocated on a 10-week cadence, derived from a backlog of deliverables and aligned with organizational-wide Program Increment (PI) Planning cadences. The Network Engineer will ensure the robustness and efficiency of our network systems, contributing to the continuous improvement and innovation of our infrastructure.
Network Automation:
•Develop and implement automation solutions for network management and operations.
•Utilise scripting languages, such as Python, to automate routine network tasks and configurations.
•Implement event-triggered automation to enhance network responsiveness and reliability.
Task Package Execution:
•Work on assigned task packages on a 10-week cadence, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality network solutions.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align deliverables with organizational PI Planning schedules.
•Participate in backlog refinement sessions to prioritize and plan network engineering tasks.
Network Design and Monitoring:
•Design and implement scalable and reliable network architectures.Monitor network traffic and performance, identifying and resolving bottlenecks and issues.
•Configure and manage multicast network flows to ensure efficient data distribution.
High Availability and Load Balancing:
•Implement and manage load balancing solutions to distribute network traffic evenly.Ensure network high availability through redundant configurations and failover mechanisms.
•Perform regular testing and validation of high availability setups to guarantee network resilience.
Collaboration and Documentation:
•Work closely with other IT teams to integrate network solutions with broader infrastructure initiatives.
•Maintain comprehensive documentation of network configurations, procedures, and automation scripts. Provide training and support to junior network engineers and other IT staff as needed.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
•Extensive experience in configuring and managing multicast network flows.
•Proficiency in switching and routing protocols and technologies.
•Strong understanding of load balancing techniques and high availability solutions.
•Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in network engineering, with a focus on automation and high availability.
You will need hold active HMG HLC Clearance and must be solely UK National.
